Why should I pay someone xxx dollars an hour to do something I can do myself? Good question.
The obvious first answer could be,”If you can do it yourself, why haven’t you?”
That sounds pretty flip but it is a good question, “Why haven’t you?”
The answer might be-
- I’m too busy to stop and file those papers.
- As soon as I clean it up my kids/husband will tear it all apart.
- I can’t decide what to do with it all.
- It was Grandma’s; I’ve got to keep it.
Now ask yourself-
- How much time (and money) do I lose looking for that lost piece of paper?
- How much valuable time with my family is lost looking for homework, shoes or camping gear? How is our “frustration factor” affecting us and how we start our day?
- How much time do I spend dithering about what to do with it all? Is there something else I’d like to do with my life?
- If Grandma loves it would she be happy that’s it’s in a box in the attic?
And the answer is….an organizer can-
- Help you catch up and devise a simple system which will make it easier and less time consuming to file.
- Set up a morning jumpsite so that every family member knows where to grab their gear on the way out the door.
- Remove the guilt and free you to do more with your life.
- Help you find someone who will love and care for that object the way Grandma did.
What else do I get for my money? Why can’t I hire a housekeeper to do the same thing?
- Most wouldn’t know where to start, just like you.
- Confidentiality is guaranteed with a professional organizer.
- An organizer has the knowledge and experience to quickly make hard decisions and implement systems the will help prevent clutter build up in the future.
You are a busy executive or a loving homemaker, how much is your time worth?
You make $48,000 a year putting in 40 hours a week. Your time is worth $46 per hour. The average executive wastes 150 hours a year searching for lost documents. That’s $6900! Now ask yourself, at the cost of what I’m worth, $552, do I want to spend the weekend cleaning out the garage?
You’re a stay at home Mom or Dad, homekeeper, personal shopper, chauffer and coach. If you were paid for your work you’d make about $15 per hour (not enough is it!). What is not part of this equation is the love and support you provide for your spouse and children. What is that worth? Can you afford to take that time from your family in order to clean out the garage?
Time is the one thing you can never get back. What if-
- You and your family had a system which could allow you to spend more stress free time together?
- You had time to market and grow your business instead of playing catch up
- You had time for an art class, to pursue skydiving or volunteer at your child’s school?
- You spent the rest of your life living it to the fullest.
What would that be worth to you?
